Meet Vet, Author in Fairfield on Pearl Harbor Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Capt. Luis Carlos Montalvan was a U.S. Army veteran who had trouble adjusting to life back home after being wounded in Iraq. "Tuesday" was a service dog who had problems connecting with the humans he was helping. But when the two met, they became the answer to each other’s problems.

“We aren’t just service dog and master, Tuesday and I are also best friends. Kindred souls. Brothers,” wrote Montalvan in his book, “Until Tuesday.”

You can meet Montalvan and Tuesday this Pearl Harbor Day at the Fairfield Public Library. Montalvan will share his story and read excerpts from his book. “Until Tuesday” tells of how the Purple Heart honoree fell into deep depression and alcoholism after returning from his two tours in Iraq until the bond he formed with his service dog helped him recover.

Montalvan and Tuesday will be at the Fairfield Public Library’s Main Branch, 1080 Post Road, on Dec. 7. The program starts at 7 p.m. in the library’s Memorial Room. For more information call 203-256-3160 or visit the library’s website
