David Huntington received the Norman K. Parsells award at a Dec. 7 luncheon.
Rotaries in the region give the award to a member every year in memory of Parsells, a dedicated Rotarian who demonstrated the club's ideal of "service above self."
Huntington joined Fairfield Rotary in 1959, becoming its president in 1964.
His background includes the U.S. Naval Reserve, during WWII; graduating from Trinity and Yale; becoming a civil engineer and land surveyor, and President of Huntington Company for 36 years before retiring in 2002.
Dave and his wife, Joan have two children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
They ran their own antiques business for more than 35 years; and Dave was a founding member, vice-president, treasurer and director of the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors.
He was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Congress on surveying and mapping.
Huntington is a member of the Southport Congregational Church; a former coach, treasurer and director Fairfield little league; a Fairfield RTM member; and a member and director of the Greater Bridgeport Council of Churches.
Dave and his wife were Grand Marshals of the 2016 “blessing of the fleet” parade.
