Learn a New Language With the Fairfield Library

Have you ever wanted to learn a foreign language? Are you too busy to enroll in a class? Library Director Karen Ronald and the Fairfield Public Library have you covered. The library is now offering Mango, a free online service with 22 foreign languages and 15 English as a Second Language courses.

"Some people need to learn a second language for business or travel reasons," reference librarian Karen Zuckerman said in a statement. "Others just want to because they think it would be interesting. No matter the reason, learning the language should be fun."

There are two versions. The first is Mango Basic, which teaches basic phrases and words, and takes two to five hours. The library's version features 22 basic foreign language versions and 15 basic ESL courses.

The more in-depth version is Mango complete. Nine foreign languages and four ESL options are available in 100-lesson courses, which provide a fluent approach to the language and culture.

Anyone with a Fairfield library card can use the system from any computer. To sign up, visit the library's website.
