Joanne Diven, 54, Formerly of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Joanne Diven, formerly of Fairfield, died April 30 in Rockville, Md., after a battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She was 54.  

She was born Sept. 9, 1957, in Yonkers, N.Y., to Joseph and Dorothy Devito Diven. She attended Elizabeth Seton Academy, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975 and studied at Mercy College and Marymount Manhattan College.

She married Kathy Andersen on Feb. 28, 2003, in Fairfield. An avid reader, Diven enjoyed relaxing at the beach, gardening, horseback riding, taking long bike rides and vacationing with family and friends. 

In January 2010, Diven was appointed supervisory compliance specialist for the Troubled Asset Relief Program of the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Financial Stability. She oversaw the compliance efforts for many of TARP's investment activities, including the public-private investment partnership, the SBA 7a program and all securities divestitures. 

Diven was presented the Special Act Award for her work in TARP compliance by the Department of the Treasury. Before her appointment, she held executive positions at UBS, Bank of New York Mellon and HSBC. 

She is survived by her wife, Kathy Andersen of Rockville; her siblings, MaryBeth Motl and husband Jim of Monroe, Francis Lynch of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Jim Andersen and wife Patty of Excelsior, Minn., Eileen Dirgo of Milford, Carolyn Andersen of Milford, and Hank Andersen and wife Nancy of Woodbridge; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph. 

A memorial service was held by her colleagues at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Church Congregational in Fairfield, with a reception to immediately follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5845 Richmond Highway, Suite 800, Alexandria, VA 22303. Maryland Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
