It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas As Fairfield Strings Lights

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The trees at Fairfield’s Sherman Town Green were getting the treatment Friday as town workers wrapped colorful lights around their branches.

The light installation on the tall evergreens are only a part of the town’s preparations for the holiday season. Bushes lining the shops on the Post Road will also get lights for the holidays.

Fairfield’s 90-foot tall Norway spruce won’t be in its full glory until Dec. 6 at the annual tree lighting. The festivities will begin at 5:55 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the tree will be in full light as Santa arrives on a fire engine.

Choirs from all three Fairfield middle schools will come together to sing holiday songs followed by the Bridgeport Theatre Company and the Fairfield Warde Choral Group.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau will lead the countdown for the tree lighting, and a Fairfield resident nominated by the town will flip the switch for the lights.

Anyone Fairfield resident can be nominated to light the tree. Nominations are due by Monday, Nov. 25, to Ginna Paules at Fairfield Parks and Recreation.
