Horses Revel in Fairfield's Dog Days, Too

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — We’re very happy with the response to last week’s call for photos of your pets dealing with the dog days of summer. But canines are not the only four-legged creatures coming through in Fairfield’s photos. Shelley Berman at the Jewish Home for the Elderly sent along this photo of a special visitor to the Fairfield care center last week.

Say hello to Gus, a 22-year-old quarter horse. He stopped by the home last week with the Jewish Home’s former chair, Michael Marcus, to brighten the day of the center’s residents. Gus is seen here with Jewish Home resident Gertrude August.

Shelley’s submission has inspired us to expand our call for readers’ photos during the dog days of August. After all, your horses, cats, rabbits, fish and whatever other pets you may have are certainly dealing with the heat as well. Send photos of your animal friends to The Daily Fairfield so we can continue our series.
