FAIRFIELD, Conn. Gladys O. Hlavaty, formerly of Fairfield, died April 24 at her home in Milford. She was 89
Born in Sauk Rapids, Minn., Hlavaty moved to Bridgeport in 1938, where she was raised. She met and married her husband John in Bridgeport and they built a home in Fairfield after his return from World War II. Hlavaty lived in Fairfield until her husband's death in 1997. She then went to live with her son, David, and lived there until her death.
Hlavaty was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Trumbull. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle and the Milford Senior Center. She loved music, reading and doing crafts.
She is survived by three sons, David (Dolores) Hlavaty, of Milford, Glen Hlavaty, of Monongahela, Pa., and Ronald (Cheryl) Hlavaty, of LaVern, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Trumbull, with the Rev. Linda Kraft officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. on Saturday
Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Larson Funeral Home in Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.
