The parade steps off from the intersection of South Pine Creek Road and Post Road. From there it will head down Post Road, turn onto Old Post Road, and stay on Old Post until it reaches the Town Hall Green at the intersection with Beach Road.
The parade’s theme this year will be “Red, White and Blue We Honor You: The Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, Thanks for Taking a Stand.”
After the parade, a ceremony honoring those lost in military service will be held by local leaders. The keynote speech will be given by Vanessa Marshall, Fairfield’s municipal veterans service officer and a former Army nurse.
During and after the parade local organizations will host events near Town Hall. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will have its pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon next to Old Town Hall. Then the Fairfield Museum and History Center will hold its annual picnic from noon to 3 p.m. on the green behind Old Town Hall. The Daughters of the American Revolution will also have a tag sale at the Old Academy nearby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
