FAIRFIELD, Conn. Shawn Bay and Bob Stearns were all set to take their boys in Scout Troop 90 on a camping trip to Killingworth this weekend. But Mother Nature intervened. A few inches of Fairfield Countys first major snow of 2012 were already on the ground by the time the two families woke up Saturday. So Stearns and Bay went with Plan B: sledding in Fairifelds Sturges Park.
Saturdays forecast calls for up to six inches of snow to fall in the Fairfield area, with the storm letting up by early evening. But dont expect the white stuff to stick around too long. Temperatures are predicted to rise to 50 degrees by Tuesday, much to Stearns relief.
If we get snow today, and its 50 degrees by Monday, Im fine with that, Stearns said.
But not everyone was happy to see snow falling in Fairfield. As he shoveled snow in front of shops along the Post Road, Michael Parks was one of many wishing he wasnt in New England Saturday.
Im a sandy beach and palm tree kind of guy, Parks said. Ive got no use for snow except on a postcard from somewhere else.
