Fairfielder Thanks Rep. For Safer Roads

As an independent voter in Southport, I would like to write a quick “thanks” to RTM Rep. Michael Herley for his leadership on improving road and traffic safety on and around Center Street in Southport. Following my letter of concern to a number of local officials, not only did Rep. Herley take the time to thoroughly research Center Street issues, he led a community meeting at Trinity Church to discuss Center Street and other local traffic-safety concerns, he met one-on-one with me and several others who live in the immediate area and, most notably, he passionately advocated our joint concerns at a recent Police Commission meeting, which resulted in tangible improvements to be undertaken.

For anyone who regularly travels on Center Street in Southport near the I-95 exit, you know firsthand how conditions are improving and we are all looking forward to the additional traffic calming steps the Fairfield Police Department plans to undertake in due course.

While I’m not one who typically writes letters to the local papers, I believe I am being well represented with Michael Herley on the RTM in District One and plan to support him come election time.
