Two Fairfielders and their UConn fraternity brothers have made Christmas a lot cheerier for a Bridgeport single father and his two children. Harrison Fuchs, who graduated from Fairfield Warde, and John Zalucki, a Fairfield Ludlow grad, are both members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon at UConn in Storrs.
We wanted to do something as a group that would give some joy to a family that doesnt have much this Christmas, said Fuchs, a sophomore majoring in engineering.
The fraternity researched a number of organizations in the state and decided on the Bridgeport-based Child and Family Guidance Center, which has been providing behavioral health services to children under the age of 18 and their families since 1925.
Once they had decided on the Child and Family Guidance Center, the SAEs made a $500 donation that was used to buy toys and other gifts for the family, which the agency had identified from the 2,600 families it serves in Bridgeport.
The brothers met at the centers offices in Bridgeport on Sunday to wrap the presents and then went to the familys home accompanied by none other than Santa himself.
For the single father, his 6-year-old son, and 4-year-old daughter, its a Christmas they will never forget.
