Fairfield Scouts Help With Cleanup, Planting At Jennings Elementary

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Jennings Cub Scout Pack 88 held its annual cleanup Friday, with Scouts, Daisies and Brownies in grades 1 thru 5 spreading mulch and planting flowers with the assistance of parents at Jennings Elementary School in Fairfield.

"We're trying to give back to our community by helping clean up the grounds here," Pack 88 Cubmaster Mark Harrington told Daily Voice. "We're doing this because we want to teach the kids how to take care of the environment, and also as a community service project - to give back to our community.

"It's great when you see these kids working," he added. "They get excited, they're competitive, and they want to help one another. The first time I saw this I was surprised — I didn't expect the children to dig in and work as hard as they do. It really is a sight to see."
