FAIRFIELD, Conn. Diane Desmond is an accomplished artist. Her gorgeous display of artwork is a blissful welcome to the summer. I had the opportunity to view her work at the Harbor Cafe in Black Rock. At first glance, her abstract paintings are a blend of exotic colors dancing in random directions. I enjoyed hearing about the motivation and ideas that spur her creativity. Her father was a wonderfully talented artist who graduated from Pratt, and his talent was a great influence on Diane. She is proud of her father's artwork, and her work is proof that she, too, is blessed with amazing talent. Diane paints from the heart and soul. Her spirit is upbeat, energetic, and she is a beautiful woman who creates beautiful things.
Alan Tanis of Sunnydaes Ice Cream Shop truly has a passion for his business. He is a friendly and kind-hearted man who enjoys teaching children all about ice cream. During the school year, he welcomes small groups of children to look behind the scenes of the delightful and fun world of an ice cream business. Alan's family has been in the ice cream business since 1999. Sunnydaes has two stores in Fairfield, as well as shops in Westport, Stamford and Trumbull. The top flavors on Alan's list include Stracciatella, Chocolate Brownie Fudge, Black Raspberry and Coffee. They are open every day from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Fantastic ice cream served with kindness what's better than that?
The St. Patrick's Gaelic Football Club camp began Monday. You don't have to be Irish to sign up! The gear and uniforms have slowly arrived from Ireland, and the camp is being run by Enda and Terry McCann, who have more than 20 years of teaching and coaching experience and are accomplished players in their own right. No Gaelic football experience required. Any questions, call James P. Feeney, camp director, at 203-522-1703.
