Fairfield Moms Go To Work To Fight Cancer

Waitresses at Fairfield’s restaurants always appreciate generous tips. But if you go to the Colony Grill next Tuesday, your gratuity will go a long way to help a greater cause. “Moms Making a Difference,” a team of Fairfielders raising money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, will take on the role of waitresses at the Post Road restaurant March 22. All of the tips they collect that night will go toward cancer research.

“This circle of moms all have been touched in some way by cancer, and we are humbled by the disease. Relay motivates us to do what we can to help find a cure,” said Amy Crawford, Moms Making a Difference team captain.  “We are always looking for great ways to raise money for relay, involve others and have a little fun while we’re at it. And we love the fact that the Colony Grill feels the same way.”

Tuesday’s work is just one of the ways they’re raising money for Fairfield’s Relay for Life event, which will take place June 4. Last year, more than 30 Fairfield teams raised more than $340,000 for cancer research.

The 20 moms on the team will be on duty from 5 to 10 p.m. March 22. As an added bonus, the Colony Grill will raffle two tickets to a New York Rangers game to raise even more for Relay for Life.

“This is a perfect opportunity for Colony Grill to reinforce our dedication to our community and contribute to a great cause,” said co-owner Ken Martin. “We’re extremely proud of these women who are backing up their commitment with action. It’s an inspiring story from an inspiring group, and we can’t wait for the big night!”
