Much of the attention surrounding the Fairfield Public Librarys One Book, One Town program went to Jonathan Safran Foer, author of the towns 2011 selection, Eating Animals. But the library also wanted to highlight the work of Fairfielders, young and old, who contributed their own works to the conversation this month. Thats why 22 Fairfielders took home prizes in the Around the Table: Food Memoirs From Fairfield contest. The winners are:
Child Poem: Griffin Geissler, Uma; Sam Meyers, Ode to the Food of Fairfield; Mikayla Sebourne, Thursday Nights are Brownie Nights.
Child Essay: Madison Lee, A Korean-Americans Food Memoir; Brian Donohue, Yummy Yummy in My Tummy Tummy; Celia Spartachino, The Barbecue.
Young Adult Poem: Jack Davis, My Christmas Dinner; Erin Rigney, Favorite Foods.
Young Adult Essay: Claire Menard, The Story of the Worst Cake Ever; Ian Wolff, Untitled; Daniel Orazio, Untitled.
