Fairfield Gets a Kick out of Rockettes

A little bit of Radio City will dance its way into Fairfield again this weekend when Madison Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike hosts the return of the "Madison Jewelers Rockettes" and the Dancing Santa. The girls will dance, pose for photos and delight passers-by on the street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

"With the recession and all, everybody's in a scowling mood," owner Ernie Piscitelli said. "We're trying to put a smile on people's faces, while at the same time attracting attention to our wonderful merchandise."

The Rockettes are a group of cheerleaders from a local university. The girls first put on a show this past weekend, and Ernie decided that the response was so great he'd have them back. Ernie was happy to make a donation to their team to get them to come out, but he said they ended up having the best time of all.

"It's not so much that it was a gangbusters day [for business], we just had such a positive response," Ernie says. "The people that did come in, they were laughing and joking. It was just a great experience."
