The challenge runs through July 25 and everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to vote not only for their favorite town, but also for favorite business, destination or attraction within the town, town leaders say.
“We all know and appreciate what makes Fairfield such a great community," said Fairfield Director of Community and Economic Development Mark Barnhart. "There's still time to cast your ballot and push Fairfield over the top!”
For the second year in a row, the State Tourism Office is running a statewide contest, encouraging residents to vote for their towns to win bragging rights for the next year as well as some additional incentives such as state-funded advertising for the town, an honorary plaque and a feature in the official state guide.
“The Connecticut still revolutionary Fan-Favorite Town program allows us to celebrate and promote the incredible breadth of experiences and unique towns that the state has to offer, from seaside escapes to bustling cities and scenic trails,” said Randy Fiveash, director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism.
“I encourage all Fairfielders to take part in this fun, statewide challenge and cast a vote for Fairfield,” added First Selectman Mike Tetreau.
As an additional incentive to vote, the state is entering everyone who votes into a giveaway where they might win a four-night stay at the Inn and Harbor Hill Marina in Niantic - last year's first Fan-Favorite Town - a $100 gift card to Boutique and a free all-day pass to Niantic Bay Bicycles.
To vote for your favorite town, residents can go onto the Visit Connecticut Facebook page here and click on the "Vote Now" button or visit the state tourism website and vote there.
