This year, Fairfield moms and daughters are hoping to collect 1,000 dresses to be donated. How will they get to such a number?
Gina Ludlow is heading up dress collection and distribution from dress boutiques around town and in Westport, and is ensuring sturdy dress racks will be donated.
Gina’s daughter, Grace, is getting her church youth group involved in dress collection and is engaging youth from neighboring towns such as Westport.
Nancy Tavolacci will get gently used dresses from community organizations and retail establishments in downtown Fairfield and at the mall.
Tavolacci's son, Peter, is assisting with the plans for the boutique layout and shopping service flow on the day of distribution in May.
Isa Tavolacci and her friend Victoria Hermsen will help Nancy sort and size the dress donations.
“The high school girls in our area work so hard—sometimes against all odds-- and stay in school and graduate," Cinderella Project Co-Founder Clyde Thompson said. "The Cinderella Project, myself, SEBNC, the Prom Boutique and my Fairfield superstar women and their girls are proud and blessed to be of assistance in providing the recognition that these young Bronx women deserve—celebrated by giving them the chance to dance at their prom.”
The prom dress event will take place on May 27 at the South East Bronx Neighborhood Center.
