Fairfield Boy Launches GoFundMe Campaign For Eagle Scout Project

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Daniel Knorr, a Boy Scout from Troop 88 in Fairfield, has set up a GoFundMe page for his Eagle Scout project.

His project consists of building multiple high-strength rolling shelves at the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport. He works with the Norma F. Pfriem Urban Outreach Initiative, which operates out of the church.

The church serves meals to those in need, functions as a clothing closet and as an overflow shelter during the winter months.

With so many functions, the space the group has must be utilized in the most efficient way possible. Currently, the storage of its clothing donations limits its capacity to serve as an overflow shelter, as it has the cots but lacks the floor space.

Daniel's goal is to build shelves that can be used to store the donations in a way that uses less floor space and can be rolled into different spaces as the group’s functions require.

So far, Daniel's GoFundMe page has raised $465, but his goal is to hit $1,800. To make a donation, click here.

In a post on his GoFundMe page, Daniel said to reach the rank of Eagle Scout, one must organize and carry out a service project that benefits an organization other than Scouting.

"Please lend your support to a fantastic organization that truly does amazing work, and help me make a difference in one of Connecticut’s neediest communities," Daniel said. "My thanks go to all those who have contributed so far and I hope many more will choose to help out this amazing organization."
