The Studio Fairfield is an art education studio for kids and adults at the Sportsplex on Mill Plain Road. The facility is owned and run by Christine Orlando and Priscilla Ingram, the former owners of the Young Artists Studio in the Stratfield section of town.

Along with year-round classes, birthday parties and events, The Studio Fairfield has planned a series of summer day camps at the center. Dubbed “Camps with a Cause,” each one will feature work to benefit the local community at large, along with instruction on a different art form.

“While your children learn to express themselves through art they will also learn life-long lessons in kindness, community and caring,” Orlando and Ingram wrote in a press release.

The Studio has planned five one-week camps, each with a different theme:

? Endorphins and Art (July 8-12) combines exercise with art projects, with each session starting with a workout organized by Tri Fitness.

? Experimental Art (July 15-19) takes its cue from Jackson Pollack, with campers dripping, pouring and splashing paint to created their works.

? Random Arts of Kindness (July 22-26) will focus on a project for Ben’s Bells Foundation, which encourages artists to paint words of kindness on bells to leave in public places.

? Art in Nature (July 29-Aug. 2) will take campers to a different location around town each day to paint in natural settings.

? Pottery Basics (Aug. 5-9) will teach beginners how to create, bake and paint their own pottery. Each camper will walk away with at least one finished piece.
