Duckie Season Arrives in Fairfield

Are you ready for Duck Season? The first fundraising drive for the Fairfield County Duckie Derby is already underway. Small and large rubber fowl are available at the Bank of Fairfield and Rockwell Art and Framing for the May 21 event to benefit St. Catherine Academy, the Diocese of Bridgeport’s special needs school.

The ducks on sale now are for the “Decorated Duck Beauty Pageant,” which will take place before the rubber duck race along the Mill River. Kids in two age groups (10-and-under and 11-and-up), plus a team division, will enter their artistic creations for the titles of Best Dressed, Most Original, Judge’s Choice and Best In Show.

The ducks are available for a $15 donation to the Derby. Those interested can buy ducks at either of the Bank of Fairfield’s branches (2248 Black Rock Turnpike or 2150 Post Road) or at Rockwell Art and Framing’s stores in Fairfield, Westport, Wilton, New Canaan and Ridgefield. For more information, visit the event website.
