Duane Dobyan, 61, Fairfield Building Contractor

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Duane A. Dobyan, 61, of Fairfield died April 17. 

A lifelong resident of Fairfield, Dobyan graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1968 and Housatonic Community College. A talented craftsman and certified building contractor, he was the owner of Dobyan Builders. He took pride in the many homes he built or renovated throughout the region over the years and had several projects featured in home magazines. 

Dobyan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing pool, restoring vintage cars, saltwater fishing and gardening. He embraced his Hungarian heritage and was very giving of himself to those in need. 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Catherine Snoderly Dobyan, son John Dobyan of Bridgeport, two daughters Elizabeth Dobyan of Fairfield and Emily Dobyan of Philadelphia, Pa., mother Helen Torok Dobyan of Fairfield, brother Kim Dobyan of Fairfield, father-in-law John (Cathy) Snoderly of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.  Dobyan was predeceased by his father John Dobyan and his brother Jack Dobyan. 

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officiated by the Rev. David Spollett. All other services will be private.
