FAIRFIELD, Conn. Say hello to Delylah. This 2-year-old boxer is the latest animal to be featured as the Fairfield Board of Selectmen's Wednesdays Pet to draw attention to the dozens of dogs and cats waiting for adoption at the Fairfield Animal Shelter.
Animal Control officer Bill McDonagh said his team found Delylah about a month ago tied to a tree near the shelter. A male boxer was tied with her, and the Animal Control department found two more boxers tied in a similar fashion around Fairfield at the same time. All four are pure-bred, so McDonagh suspects all four belonged to the same owner. Now they are waiting for new owners at the shelter.
You dont often get pure-breds at the shelter, McDonagh said. Its a great steal at $50.
If youd like to adopt Delylah, her brothers, or any of the other pets under Animal Controls care, you can visit the Fairfield Animal Shelter at 211 One Rod Highway. Adoption fees are $50 for pets like Delylah who are not spayed or neutered, but that includes a coupon toward the procedure. Spayed or neutered dogs and cats cost just $5 to take home.
