FAIRFIELD, Conn. What says Fourth of July more than a good fireworks show? Heres what you need to know about Fairfields show Monday:
Fairfields Parks and Recreation Department will start the show Monday, July 4, just after dark (about 9:15 p.m.). The fireworks will launch from a boat on Long Island Sound, so you can watch them from anywhere with a water view, but the best locations are Jennings and Penfield beaches.
The town will also have live music at both beaches: The Atwood Express Oldies Band starts at Jennings at 5 p.m., and the Shamrogues take to Penfield at 7 p.m. Both bands will play until just before the show begins.
Cars wont need beach stickers or to pay fees at either Penfield or Jennings after 6 p.m. That means out-of-towners are welcome as well, so the Parks Department recommends getting there early, and trying Jennings larger lot.
The latest forecast for Monday night is cloudy, but no rain. In case of bad weather, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (203) 256-3144.
If you dont want to wait until Monday to check out fireworks, you can take them in at most surrounding towns over the weekend. Westport will have its fireworks show Friday at Compo Beach. Bridgeport will have a show Sunday night at Seaside Park as part of the Barnum Festival, with tickets costing $50 for adults and $25 for children.
