Theodor Giesel is a name you may not know, but the person behind it is certainly someone who has touched your life in some way. Giesel, who was born 107 years ago Wednesday, is better known as Dr. Seuss. He is the writer of such childrens classics as Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
In honor of Seusss birthday, the Pequot Library in Southport is hosting Dr. Seuss Rules on Wednesday afternoon in its Childrens Room. Kids will hear a few of the doctors most famous stories, dine on Green Eggs and Ham and make some Oobleck in a classic Seuss-inspired science experiment.
Dr. Seuss Rules takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport. The event is free and open to anyone. It is recommended for children 4 and up.
