Celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday in Fairfield

Theodor Giesel is a name you may not know, but the person behind it is certainly someone who has touched your life in some way. Giesel, who was born 107 years ago Wednesday, is better known as Dr. Seuss. He is the writer of such children’s classics as “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

In honor of Seuss’s birthday, the Pequot Library in Southport is hosting “Dr. Seuss Rules” on Wednesday afternoon in its Children’s Room. Kids will hear a few of the doctor’s most famous stories, dine on Green Eggs and Ham and make some “Oobleck” in a classic Seuss-inspired science experiment.

“Dr. Seuss Rules” takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport. The event is free and open to anyone. It is recommended for children 4 and up.
