FAIRFIELD, Conn. William "Bill" Healy, a resident of Fairfield for more than 60 years, died May 11. He was 93.
Born Feb. 2, 1919 in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Michael Healy and Nora Fitzgerald Healy. He attended Seton Hall University before moving to Westport, where he lived for 10 years.
Healy moved to Fairfield and married Gertrude Collins on May 31, 1952. After early retirement from Sikorsky Aircraft, he worked as an Army military marketing manager at his own consulting firm for many years before retiring 10 years ago.
He was a longtime member of the Patterson Club, Gaelic American Club, Association of the U.S. Army, Army Aviation Association and American Helicopter Society. Healy most enjoyed spending time with his family at his beach home.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Megan (John) McNamara, of Fairfield; a sister, Eleanor Bednash, of Westchester, Ill.; and four grandchildren. Healy was predeceased by four brothers, John, Frank, Joseph and Harold.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday directly at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fairfield. Burial will be private.
