Renowned for his humanitarian work, Broza will offer “East Jerusalem West Jerusalem,” a project that documents in film and music an oasis of harmony in Palestinian East Jerusalem, where the singer-songwriter recorded his new album with American, Palestinian and Israeli musicians.
The event, which includes a screening of the film, a performance and a talkback, is sponsored by the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County in partnership with the university’s Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies. It is part of the center’s Daniel Pearl World Music Days series.
“Not only is David an incredibly dynamic performer, but he also has a powerful and deeply committed voice when it comes to building bridges within and beyond Israel,” said David Weisberg, the federation’s executive director. “It promises to be a tremendously enlightening, provocative and entertaining afternoon.”
From whirlwind finger-picking to Flamenco percussion to signature rock-and-roll, Broza’s charismatic and energetic performances have delighted fans the world over. His music is a fusion of the three countries where he grew up — Israel, Spain and England.
The event starts at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $10. For tickets, call 203-226-8197 or click here.
