The walking history tour will highlight Southport's history, covering the early 17th-century English Colonial period; the community's growth as a regional hub for shipping onions, manufacturing and modern day transitions tied to the arrival of the New Haven Railroad.
The 1.5-mile, 90-minute tour, sponsored by the Fairfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and the Fairfield Museum and History Center, leaves from the steps of Pequot Library at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22.
But space is limited: It is open to the first 30 people who register online.
