The owner of the money found at the Walmart parking lot in Danbury has been found.
"We are happy to announce that we have received a call from the rightful owner and will be returning it to them soon," Danbury Police said. "To protect the privacy of the Good Samaritan and the owner of the money, we will not be releasing either person's name."
Original report:
The Danbury Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating the owner of a substantial sum of money that was found by a Good Samaritan, on Saturday, June 30 at the parking lot of Walmart at 67 Newtown Road.
The owner of the money made an inquiry with store personnel, but before it had been reported found.
Unfortunately, the owner of the money never left contact information with the store personnel, Danbury Police said Wednesday morning.
While Danbury Police cannot locate the individual without assistance, the department said, "we are confident we will know the person when we see them."
