The Men’s 5K winner Joel Bender of Bedford, N.Y., finished with a time of 18:35.20, and Emily Walgenbach of Stamford won the Women’s 5K with a time of 23:18.00.
David Pearlstone of Easton, Diane Pincus of Bedford, N.Y. and Erin Hunt of Norwalk were the event's highest individual fundraisers, and Booze Houndz was the highest fundraising team.
Kicking off the event, Megan Watts of Fairfield shared her powerful story of how CancerCare helped her family cope following her mother’s cancer diagnosis. From healing through an arts and crafts support group to a mother-daughter trip to New York, CancerCare created “opportunities to make great memories with my family in a supportive environment,” said Watts.
