The Connecticut Office of Policy and Management gave Fairfield the grant to look into options in the Commerce Drive area.
“Since its opening, Fairfield has made steady progress in capitalizing on the center’s potential as an engine for economic growth,” said First Selectman Mike Tetreau. “Young people and businesses place a high value on walkable, transit-oriented communities, and we need to be meeting that demand.”
State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey supported the town’s request for funding.
“These funds provide a tremendous opportunity for Fairfield to partner with community stakeholders, private developers and local residents to build on successful development in the area, such as the newly opened Trademark Apartments,” McCarthy Vahey said.
Fairfield received $750,000 through the OPM program in 2016 to replace 3,000 feet of sewer lines near the train station.
