The exhibition of the winning photographs will open May 15, along with an exhibition of work by Jack Delano, a photographer who captured views of life in Connecticut during the 1940s. The winning photographs will be on display through June 27. The work of Jack Delano will be on exhibit through Sept. 18.

Sponsored by Venu magazine, Southport Galleries and Fairfield University, the IMAGES exhibition celebrates the exceptional work of talented, regional photographers. This year’s winners were chosen from more than 500 entries from Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Two grand prize winners will be selected and announced on Saturday, May 14, at the museum’s Gin & Jazz spring benefit. The public is invited to attend the festivities, featuring cocktails, live music and food. Guests will be able to preview both exhibitions, “IMAGES 2016” and “Connecticut, 1940: Farms, Factories, and the Photographs of Jack Delano.”

Judges for this year’s contest were renowned photographer Philip Trager; Pablo Delano, professor of fine arts at Trinity College in Hartford; and Suzanne Chamlin, associate professor and director of studio art at Fairfield University.

Tickets for the opening celebration are available online here. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the museum’s educational programs.
