For the past 15 years, Executive Director Peter Sutton has been responsible for guiding the Bruce Museum to live out founder Robert Moffat Bruce's desire that the museum serve, educate and benefit the public. Prior to being named museum director, Sutton worked in leadership roles at various museums across the country, including the Boston Museum and Philadelphia Museum.
Sutton is proud of what the Bruce has been able to accomplish, "punching above it's weight class" as the New York Times put it, by reaching both a regional and international audience in their science exhibitions and art galleries. Some of the museum's current exhibitions include Electric Paris, Science in Motion and a scientific look at electricity.
The Bruce attracts nearly 80,000 guests annually, ranging from school children to senior citizens. As the museum continues to offer educational courses to students throughout the area, Sutton believes the museum will remain a leading cultural destination for years to come.
