The day is set aside to make a charitable contribution to your favorite local nonprofit group.
This 24-hour giving challenge aims at lifting lives and strengthening communities, according to the foundation's website.
To participate in this day of philanthropy, donors are encouraged to give and let others know to do the same.
The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Prize money will be made available to amplify charitable donations, excite nonprofits and donors to participate, and keep momentum going throughout the day, according to the foundation.
Nonprofits taking part do work in the following fields: Advocacy, Animals, Arts & Culture, Education, Employment, Environment, Housing & Shelter, Human Services, Mental Health & Crisis Intervention, Volunteerism, Women and Girls, Youth Development and more.
The Fairfield County Giving Day is an online only event. Donations may be made at FCGives.org.

Only donations made during the 24-hour donation period, Thursday, March 10 from 12 midnight to 11:59 p.m. are considered eligible gifts for the day as well as for prize dollars.
All organizations participating in Fairfield County's Giving Day serve residents of Fairfield County, are registered as 501c3 with the Bureau of Charitable Organizations. Organizations must have completed an application process to participate.
