Fans of “The Greatest Two Minutes In Sports” will don big hats and festive finery as they stage an old-fashioned tailgate party on the lawn before retiring to the auditorium to watch the running of the 143rd Kentucky Derby.
The 8th annual event, taking place from 4 to 7 p.m., supports the library’s more than 750 annual programs and services for more than 100,000 visitors a year.
The festivities start with the tailgaters parking their cars in a horseshoe on the lawn. While guests can bring their own tailgate fare, ticket holders can also enjoy provided Southern cuisine and an open bar — with mint juleps, of course.
Tickets are $60 each, with a special $300 tailgating ticket package. Act now, as ticket prices increase after April 28.
