Sacred Heart In Fairfield Hosts Debate On Connecticut's Gun Law

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The state's new gun law will be the topic of a debate on Tuesday at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

“The Great Debate: Does Connecticut’s New Gun Law Violate the Second Amendment?” will take place Tuesday at Sacred Heart University.

“The Great Debate: Does Connecticut’s New Gun Law Violate the Second Amendment?” will be part of the university’s ninth annual commemoration of Constitution Day, which observes the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. It also is the final event in a four-part series entitled "Reflecting on Sandy Hook," addressing some of the issues that were spurred by the fatal shootings in Newtown in December 2012.

This event will feature special guests Ron Pinciaro, executive director of Connecticut Against Gun Violence, Inc., and State Rep. Rob Sampson. The moderator will be professor Gary Rose of the university's department of government and politics.

The event will be at 2 p.m. at the University Commons at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Ave., Fairfield.
