ZenRide Spinning Studio and the Bar Method Fairfield will present the second annual "Biker-Barre + Bubbly" to help raise awareness for hydrocephalus, an incurable brain condition. Participants will sweat, sculpt and stretch, then enjoy some bubbly and bites while bidding on some fabulous silent auction items.

All proceeds will go directly to the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc to fund research projects to identify alternate treatments for this condition which is estimated to affect 1 in 500 births in the United States.

Last year’s inaugural Biker-Barre + Bubbly event raised over $18,000.

Fairfield resident Cindy Shanley, an instructor at both Zen Ride Spinning Studio and at the Bar Method Fairfield, has a 4-year-old daughter, Reagan, who suffers from hydrocephalus.

Cindy and her husband Tim, PHF Connecticut State Chapter Directors, have been working to raise awareness of the condition and to ultimately find a cure since Reagan’s diagnosis. Hydrocephalus causes an abnormal amount of cerebral spinal fluid to build, widening spaces in the brain. It can cause increased pressure inside the skull, and can lead to brain damage, or if untreated can be fatal.
