Fairfield U. Screens 'Frankenstein' Starring Sherlock Holmes Actors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Holy Sherlock! Fairfield University will show a pair of high-definition screenings of the 2012 National Theatre performance of “Frankenstein,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, both of whom are also currently playing Sherlock Holmes in separate television adaptations.

The screenings will take place at the Quick Center at Fairfield University on Friday at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for students and children.

Directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle ("Slumdog Millionaire"), the duo switches roles between Dr. Frankenstein and his creation in the classic monster tale.

Miller (CBS’s “Elementary”) plays Dr. Frankenstein in the 2 p.m. screening and Cumberbatch (BBC’s “Sherlock,” and “Star Trek: Into Darkness") is the creature. In the 7 p.m. screening -- they flip their roles.

“Frankenstein” enjoyed a sellout run at the National Theatre in London, and went on to win awards, including the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor for Cumberbatch and Miller.

The production is not suggested for anyone under age 15.
