Looking for work at any age can be challenging. Job seekers over 40 need 21st century strategies to showcase their expertise and education without appearing dated. Michael Shavel, a career counselor from the Connecticut Department of Labor, will help participants learn how to make their experience work.

These presentations are part of the library’s award-winning jobs series, now in its sixth year. The talks are supplemented by a LinkedIn networking group, one-on-one career counseling sessions, job search boot camp, podcast recordings of more than 100 past presentations and an updated collection of job-hunting books. Since January 2012, 171 people who have attended the programs have reported they have found employment.
