"Views on Vermeer" examines the life and work of Dutch master Johannes Vermeer. Filmed largely in New York, home to a third of his works, the film also takes viewers to Holland, France, London and Washington – introducing artists, writers and photographers whose lives and work have been influenced by Vermeer.
Reference Associate Lauren Denisco will host these film showings, continuing her foray into the art world begun with the Skype-a-Docent program she established at the library in the fall of 2013
Registration is requested.
The Movies about Art series will feature documentary films highlighting a unique aspect of the art world. These movies will be shown on the second Wednesday of the month in July, August and September.
This is an extension of the Skype-a-Docent program, which offers tours of cultural interest, particularly art, to seniors and others who may not be able to travel out of town.
A docent from various museums and venues takes you on a private tour via Skype – a video phone call. When the Skype call is projected onto the large screen in the Library’s Rotary Room, it allows you to view exhibits up close and to converse directly with your guide.
Skype-a-Docent tours are also offered by the Library at several senior living facilities in town. All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free.
