The series will be at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Oct. 29 and Nov. 12 in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. The books that will be discussed are "Frankenstein" (1818), "Jane Eyre" (1847), "The House of Mirth" (1905) and "To the Lighthouse" (1927).These novels by Mary Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, Edith Wharton and Virginia Woolf, respectively, rank among the best novels of the past 200 years.
Schenker is an associate dean at Yale College and dean of academic affairs and a part-time lecturer in the English department. He has led book discussions in Connecticut libraries for more than 16 years and has given numerous lectures on writers and their works.
Advanced registration is required due to the limited space.
