The Jewish festival of Passover, which celebrates the exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt, begins at sundown Friday, April 3, and runs through April 11.

For Christians, today is Good Friday, which marks the crucifixion of Jesus. Easter Sunday, on April 5, celebrates his Resurrection.

Both holidays are rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition — with a focus on family and eating together.
