All writing will be done in the workshops through customized writing prompts. The free workshop is led by Adair Heitmann, BFA, and is open to those ages 17 and older.

Heitmann is an award-winning author, artist, and teacher. Her work has appeared in hundreds of newspapers, more than 30 magazines and three anthologies.

Each session will have a theme and verbal prompts will be given every 15 to 30 minutes to exercise the creative mind.

The theme for the Sept. 19 session is: What have you learned in the “school” of your life?

These workshops are designed to provide an encouraging environment for beginning, intermediate, and advanced writers to help get their ideas onto the page. Whether it turns into a blog idea, an essay, a first paragraph or the first or last page of a work, stimulation and motivation are the key ingredients.

Writers will be given the option to share their words with the group at the end of each session.

The other sessions in the series are scheduled for Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 19, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 19, April 16 and May 21.

Register online for one or all of them or call 203-259-0346 ext. 20.
