The 30- to 40-minute author talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session, plus book signings and refreshments. The program is free and open to the public.
Manning’s book tells the tale of Axie Muldoon, the impoverished child of Irish immigrants who grows up to become one of the wealthiest and most controversial women of her day in Victorian New York City.
The author, a New York City resident, is a former documentary producer for public television and winner of two Emmy awards. She has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian (UK), The Los Angeles Times Book Review, Glamour and More, and has taught creative writing at Bard High School Early College.
