New Goodwill Offers Discount Deals, Dozens Of Jobs In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Goodwill officially opened its new Fairfield store and drive-through donation station on Friday, passing out free gift cards and tote bags to lucky customers who stopped in for the festivities.

While savvy shoppers snapped up deals, Vickie Volpano, president of Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut, said the store will provide jobs, training and mentoring for about 30 new employees.

“It all comes together around the mission of Goodwill,” she said.

Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz were on hand for the ribbon-cutting at the spacious store at 500 Kings Highway East.

“If there’s anything our economy needs it’s jobs,” Tetreau said. “I’m thrilled to have this facility here.”

The new site features a convenient drive-up donation station to the right of the store.

Last year, sales from Goodwill stores in western and northern Connecticut helped fund employment training, job placement services and support to more than 25,000 people, Volpano said.
