The company previously said it would make a decision by the end of 2015 on whether to move out of Fairfield, but General Electric Co. officials confirmed Friday that the company will delay the decision until January to ensure it makes the right choice, according to the report.
Jeffrey Immelt, GE's chief executive officer, announced in June that he had assembled a team to explore the potential for relocating to “another state with a more pro-business environment,” according to the report.
GE announced that it might move its Fairfield headquarters out of the state after the General Assembly approved a budget that would allow Connecticut to levy taxes on corporate income that companies have previously attributed to other jurisdictions.
