The second annual program focuses on supporting local community activities and nonprofit organizations, representatives said. The Spirit of Caring volunteer efforts run throughout the month of November. As part of the initiative, 20 AvalonBay associates volunteered in Fairfield at the Operation Hope Food Pantry stocking shelves with food collected through an office food drive.

The volunteers donated and served hot meals at the Community Kitchen and put up fund-raising signs for a Thanksgiving Day Breakfast. Associates also donated assorted food items and 15 complete meal Thanksgiving Day Baskets to the Food Pantry.

“We take our responsibilities to one of our Company’s core values, A Spirit of Caring, and to Fairfield very seriously," said Joanne Lockridge, AvalonBay Senior Vice President-Finance. "I am so pleased to see our associates not only select the charitable organization that they want to support, but also volunteer hands-on service to make it a reality.

"The work undertaken at Operation Hope is making a difference in people’s lives and in the communities in which AvalonBay associates live and work. I’m very proud of our associates’ commitment to their neighbors in need and to causes that improve Connecticut.”
