“We did get a nice welcome from the people in Southport,’’ Goodfellow said. “The people like our favorable rates. We’ve gotten that message over and over again. They like the fact that we have plenty of parking and drive-up service. They like the locale. We have customers from Fairfield, Southport and Westport.”

The full-service branch facility officially opened May 6. A grand opening was held May 29 to June 1. The branch offers a full line of deposit and loan products.

“We are delighted to have a presence in Southport and offer our products and services to the community,’’ said Robert Kettenmann, president of Darien Rowayton Bank. “People today realize the value of doing business with a community institution where decisions are made locally.”

The community atmosphere at Darien Rowayton Bank  resonates with customers and employees, Goodfellow said.

“Customers like the feeling of a smaller bank,’’ said Goodfellow, who lives in Fairfield and has worked at several financial institutions. “We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. As an employee, I like it very much. Everybody at this bank is very nice from the president on down. You feel like you know everybody. I really like the atmosphere.”
