There is a 35 percent chance of it becoming "historically strong" for the November-January season, according to a brand-new update from the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center. Stamford 7-Hour Standoff Ends After Man Threatening Others Surrenders, Police Say
A 36-year-old Fairfield County man threatening harm to others was charged with reckless endangerment after holding police at bay for more than seven hours. The incident occurred in Stamford around 7:38 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11 on High Ridge Road. According to Capt. Chris Baker of the Stamford Police, officers responding to a disturbance call were confronted by a man who was "engaging in threatening behavior." Former Shelton Cop Charged With Stalking Police Chief
A former Fairfield County police officer has been charged with allegedly stalking his former boss who fired him for mishandling a domestic violence complaint. David Moore, age 61, of Shelton, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Friday, Nov. 10 at Troop A in Southbury on an arrest warrant. Man Found Clinging To Dock In River On Greenwich, NY Border: Police
A man was hospitalized after being pulled from a freezing river in Westchester on the Connecticut border, where he was discovered clinging to a dock. The incident happened on Sunday, Nov. 12 around 1 a.m., when authorities were told that someone needed help in the area of the Byram River on the border between Port Chester and the Fairfield County town of Greenwich. The elder sister of former President Donald J. Trump has died while in hospice care in New York, a source with direct knowledge told Daily Voice early Monday morning, Nov. 13. Maryanne Trump Barry, a Queens native and retired federal judge, died over the weekend from cancer while in hospice care in New York City, the source said. She was 86. Barry became an Assistant US Attorney in 1974 and was appointed to the US District Court for the District of New Jersey by the late President Ronald Reagan in 1983. 1 Person Burned During Westport House Fire
One person received burns to their hands while attempting to put out a house fire in Fairfield County. The blaze occurred in Westport around 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 12, on Riverside Avenue. First arriving firefighters reported smoke and fire visible from the front right side of the home, said Assistant Chief Philip Hessberger, of the Westport Fire Department. Four Connecticut residents were recently arrested and charged, in unrelated incidents, with allegedly stealing a combined $19,111 from programs financed by the Connecticut Department of Social Services. Darien Woman Nabbed For DWI Following Crash, Police Say
A woman was charged with allegedly operating under the influence following a crash in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Darien on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in the area of Post Road and Mechanic Street. Brenna Gilhooley, age 28, of Darien, was arrested after officers responded to a report of a crash, said Sgt. Dan Skoumbros of the Darien Police.
