Stranded, Seething: 2.5K Southwest Flight Cancellations Leave Passengers In Post-Christmas Mess
More than 2,500 Southwest Airlines flights were canceled and 8,3072 delayed as of Wednesday, Dec. 28, leaving even more passengers across the US stranded and seething. Fairfield County Native Named US Merchant Marine Academy's First Female Superintendent
A woman from Fairfield County has been selected as the Long Island-based US Merchant Marine Academy's first female superintendent, the US Department of Transportation and the Maritime Administration announced. Rear Admiral Joanna M. Nunan, who is originally from Bridgeport, has been selected for the position at the academy located on Long Island, in Kings Point. Nunan graduated from the New London, Connecticut-based Coast Guard Academy in 1987 and also received her master's degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic, according to a report by Safety4Sea. WASHINGTON, D.C. – The second of U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty’s two bipartisan bills to combat human trafficking in America was signed into law Monday, marking the successful conclusion of an effort to establish tough new penalties for truckers and create a human trafficking prevention coordinator position at the U.S. Department of Transportation.
